Diabetic Shoes and Supplies
Diabetic Shoes & Medicare

Medicare Will Assist Patients in Purchasing Diabetic Shoes.
Patients must meet the following criteria to qualify for Medicare-funded diabetic footwear:

* Have diabetes
* One or more of the following:

* Previous amputation of a foot or part of either foot
* History of foot ulceration on either foot
* History of pre-ulcerative calluses on either foot
* Peripheral neuropathy with evidence of callus formation
* Foot deformity of either foot
* Poor circulation in either foot

Proper foot care is an important part of diabetes management. In fact, diabetics are at an extremely increased risk of serious foot disorders.

Foot problems are the most common diabetes complication leading to hospitalizations. Ulcers or sores on the feet can be caused by improper shoe gear that can result in infection and possible amputations.

Shoes MUST be worn all of the time. Anytime there is weight on the feet, indoors or out, a proper fitted shoe should be worn.
